About Sarah Cowgill

Sarah Cowgill

For nearly forty years, this author has made a living putting words in the mouths of powerful people — senators, governors, and those too big to tattle on. Basically, a colorful assortment of elected officials who needed someone to make them sound smarter than they actually were. After thirty-five years in the political arena, she decided it was high time she said something for herself.

Turns out, what she really wanted to talk about was her friends.

Some have said, and of course, they don’t matter anyway, she has an insanely deep loyalty to the same seven people she has known since junior high school. And she has spent decades collecting stories — mostly ridiculous, occasionally dangerous, always involving at least one animal and a questionable decision. The Inheritance is the third installment in her To Die For series, which began as a love letter to rural Indiana and somehow turned into a body count.

All proceeds from the series benefit animals in need, which is not surprising to anyone who knows her. She has loved horses, dogs, cats, goats, pigs, raccoons, and opossums, pretty much any critter since she was old enough to toddle to the fence and climb onto the back of a horse without asking permission. She has never once regretted it.

She lives very rurally, in an old country schoolhouse turned home, surrounded by creatures who do not care about her political resume. And that she considers the greatest achievement of her career.
